Reduce glare

Too much direct and reflected light produces glare, which is uncomfortable to look at. It also creates harsh reflections which make it difficult to see clear images on television and computer screens.

Glare can be eliminated by covering the window with any opaque or heavy window treatment, but the amount of daytime lighting may be sacrificed.  Regular drapes and blinds would eliminate glare when closed, but also eliminate most light. When opened glare would be fully present.

The solution is to use transluscent window treatments that diffuse and soften light to reduce glare, while still allowing light to filter through and illuminate a room.
